Avoid blood thinners and anti-inflammatory supplements (1 week prior): Unless your doctor has prescribed them, pause over-the-counter NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, Aleve), fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba and turmeric. Never stop a prescribed blood thinner or daily aspirin without asking the doctor who prescribed it. Kybella causes significant localized inflammation as it breaks down fat cells, and blood thinners increase the risk of heavy bruising and bleeding at the injection sites.
Skip alcohol and high-sodium foods (24–48 hours prior): Avoid alcoholic beverages, excessive caffeine, and salty foods. Alcohol thins the blood, while high sodium promotes fluid retention, both of which worsen post-treatment swelling.
Plan your schedule and clear your neck area: Arrive with a clean face and neck—no makeup, moisturizers, or active skincare products. Crucially, schedule the procedure at least 2–4 weeks away from major events or photo shoots, as significant submental swelling ("bullfrog neck") is expected for the first 1–2 weeks.

Visible results typically appear within 30 to 60 days after treatment as the body processes and eliminates the destroyed fat cells.
The reduction of fat cells is permanent; once they are destroyed and eliminated, they cannot store or accumulate fat.
The number of treatments varies from person to person. Sessions are spaced at least 1 month apart, up to a maximum of 6. Your provider will recommend a plan at your free consultation.
Tell your provider if you have ever had trouble swallowing, an infection in the treatment area, or previous surgery or cosmetic treatment of the neck or chin. KYBELLA® may not be right for you, and your provider will review your medical history first.
Post-treatment recovery may involve swelling, bruising, and numbness for several weeks. It is recommended to schedule treatments at least two weeks before any major events.
